What a week it has been. It was absolutely joyful to have our halls and classrooms buzzing with the energy that 7th graders bring. We cannot wait to see what the year will bring.
If a scholar is missing school for some reason, they should check in with their teachers, as well as check Google Classroom. All teachers will post the work they should do if they miss a day and they are able to do work.

English | We spent a lot of time collaborating, sharing who we are, doing read alouds, and figuring out how we want to grow as readers this week. This is all part of our year-long work focused on our identity and learning about others in the world. I am so excited for this year to get underway. Deadlines:

English | In these first two days, we are focused on several goals. First, to get to know each other better both as people and as learners. Second, we are together developing our classroom rules and behaviors including work and homework expectations. Last, we are exploring the concept of identity leading to a piece of narrative writing in the upcoming weeks as well as developing or understanding the importance of evidence. While we have several small assignments due in the coming week (laid out in Google Classroom - an excellent resource to see what your student has to work on, the most important assignment is that your student MUST HAVE an independent reading book by September 7. |
Geography (Stoller) | We spent time exploring ‘What is Geography’ and thinking about our individual ideas for a Dream Classroom in our effort to create our own map. We worked on getting to know one another and creating a safe environment, both of which are things we will continue. Deadlines: Dream Classroom drawing and explanation due Sept 10 Questions: What are at least 2 things you will talk about in Geography this year? What are some elements that you plan to put into your Dream Classroom? What is one question you still have about Geography or the class and how can you get that question answered? |

Our main focus as we start the year is to create a space where everyone feels welcomed and willing to step out of their comfort zone to learn and try new things. We are spending time this week getting to know each other and thinking about what we can all do to make PE an awesome experience for everyone! |
Spanish (Cognac) | We spent time learning about each other and easing into our classroom routine. We got an overview of what to expect in Spanish class this year and also got to create our class norms together. We will start our year out reviewing the alphabet, colors, days, and numbers. (Sra. Cognac will include a link to the Unit 1 Calendar next week, but one thing to note is that you can expect your student to have 1-2 homework assignments each week for Spanish, typically.) |
Spanish | We will spend time during the first week introducing ourselves and discussing our ideas for our community in the classroom. We are also going to learn the alphabet, colors, days and numbers in Spanish as review.
