We continue to work on dual units of literary analysis of picture books looking at theme, character, and symbolism while also delving into debate.  Your student will have a final project due at the end of May that will require them to use the various literary techniques they have been exploring.

As we approach the end of the school year, it is important for students to stay focused on both their work and their independent reading responsibilities.  I do want missing assignments due to me by the end of next week.

Geography

(Stoller)

Students took this past week to dig into some learning about Australia.  We then started gearing up for our final project which is to design a tour of either Europe or Australia.  Students can work alone or with one or two ‘business partners’ for their tour company.  This will be due the last day of school.  They are just now getting rolling with the projects so may not have solid answers for those questions yet.

Ask your learner:

  • What are 3 physical features in Australia?

  • What was something interesting that you learned about Australia?

  • Would you want to visit Australia?  Why or why not?

  • Are you going to work alone or with a partner or partners for your final project?  Why did you make that choice?

  • Are you going to do Europe or Australia for your project?
