We wanted to just take a moment and truly share our thank you to all of you for the commitment, effort, and time that is being put into virtual school. We know that this is not easy, that the lines between home life and school are very blurred and that there is a lot to navigate with all of the different tools, assignments, and procedures, and yet, kids continue to show up, adults continue to support and communicate, and we continue to grow as learners. So thank you for your belief in us, for all of the work being put in, and for helping us in whichever ways you can. We are so grateful to be a part of your journey, we know that this is not easy, and yet we are all doing it in whichever capacity we can. So thank you!

English (Ripp) | We are excited to welcome Ms. Weber, they will be joining us first as a pre-student teacher in 2nd block English on Fridays, and then they will be a student teacher with us starting in January for quarter 3.
We start our dystopian book clubs the week after Thanksgiving, we are excited to kick off our first book club option for the year and are eager to have kids discussing great dystopian books with each other. Dystopian themes are by their very nature a little more mature but it is always amazing to see scholars work through their messages, themes, as well as how we can spur social change.
If your scholar is feeling overwhelmed by the book club option, I do have a short story option available instead. They can submit their name for this through Google Classroom and we will meet on Wednesdays at 1 PM for our discussions the three weeks in December. Deadlines: Read 2 hours+ every week in a book of your choosing See the weekly work checklist for due dates. Summative: Digital One Pager due the 20th of November. Students should be working on this already and will need to finish their independent reading book to finish the project.
Questions to ask: How did your character change? What is happening in your read aloud - Before the Ever After? Are you almost done with your digital one pager? It’s due Sunday! What is a thematic statement? Will you be doing the book club or the short story option led by Mrs. Ripp?
