Newsletter February 19th, 2021

Since we don’t see students often for our “live” time together, we cannot stress the importance of attending these classes enough.  If a rephased student knows they will be out, they should attend their virtual classes for the classes they will miss in-person.  Classes are not recorded anymore so that is not an option for students.

Connections will be virtual for all from 2:10 to 2:30 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  This is still considered a class and we look forward to continuing our time together.

Things to know:

  • There will be a shark tank study hall every day from 2:30 to 3:30 PM - the Meet code will be Sharktank for students to get help from teachers.

  • Have technology issues?  Please send an email to the OSD tech helpdesk at helpdesk@oregonsd.net

We continue our exploration of a Research Inquiry Question.  Last week, students were working to come up with an engaging and challenging inquiry question (that they will focus on for approximately the next 6 weeks).  This week we are starting to explore the fundamentals of research as each student explores their topic.  The final deliverable of this unit will be a 4 to 5 minute persuasive presentation.

Remember, students are still expected to continue on their commitment to reading outside of the classroom.  The expectation is that each student should be reading at least 15 minutes a day on their own.
