We cannot thank you enough for all of your support this entire year. Having your learners with us this year has been something we will all cherish for a long time. We know that this year ended unexpectedly and not in any way we could ever have imagined, but we appreciate so much the time we did have together face-to-face, the memories we made, the incredible growth we have seen. We also want to thank you, all of the adults, for your amazing dedication to this online emergency teaching situation, we know we basically wrote all of you subplans and asked you to implement them as best as you can, thank you for your communication, for your feedback, for your dedication, and for putting up with us all as we navigated all of this. It has been a year for the history books, thank you for everything you have done.

Best book of the year slide due Wednesday, June 3rd.
All surveys due June 3rd.
Questions to ask:
How did you grow from choose your own learning?
What are you proud of that you have accomplished?
What was the best book of the year that you read this year?
What are your summer reading plans?
Do you have books that need to be returned to Mrs. Ripp? Or you can drop them at school when you pick up your items from your locker
Gunst (English) Can't believe this is the last week of school. Your students should have turned in their final Choose Your Own Adventure Project. Ask them which project they completed. Have a Happy Summer!
Geography (Stoller):
It has been a true pleasure to be with your young people this year and I will miss them as they move into 8th grade. Thank you for entrusting them to us this year and for the help and support you provided at home. We will wrap up our year with a brief look at Australia. Ask your learner:
*What is the capital of Australia? What is its connection to Washington DC?
*What are 3 places you'd like to visit and why?
*What are 3 of the trivia questions you wrote for your classmates?
*Show me one of the map puzzles you did. What did you discover in doing it?
Spanish (Landsverk):
We are preparing for our final this week! Students have the option of studying (posted on Google Classroom is a document explaining how to do so) or taking the final, if students are prepared. Talk with your student. Ask them if they have done the Flipgrid practice (there have been two) and if they have been studying their Quizlet (question/answer) flashcards. If they seem ready, they can take it this week Wednesday/Thursday. If not, they can certainly take it on Monday/Tuesday. Email me with any questions.
Orchestra
Thank you to all students and parents for your perseverance these past few weeks. I have had fun learning with you! No new work has been assigned since mid May. Students can use the remaining time to continue work on their selected final project (due June 2nd) and complete any missing assignments. I am very proud of how committed you have been throughout this process, 7th graders! You have truly shown that being a musician is about far more than the performance. To quote the late Ellis Marsalis when talking to his young son Wynton, "Son, those who play for applause...that's all they get."
Questions to ask:
What gains have you made as a musician this quarter? This year?
Although performances were not possible in a large group setting, how did music continue to play a role in your life?
What have you learned about music through distance learning that you may have not thought of, focused on, or learned before?
Other info:
Instructions for instrument rental returns was sent out yesterday through Infinite Campus. Please, look for it if you are a renter and do not plan to keep your child's instrument over the summer (the stores are offering some amazing deals, so you may want to consider hanging on to those instruments!)
Summer School Orchestra will be offered virtually for grades 6-8. This will be a virtual small group format with no more than 2 students scheduled at a time. See the Summer School Course guide for more information or email me with questions.
Many music/orchestra camps have been cancelled this summer; however, many local studio teachers are teaching virtually. Our parent booster group FOTO will be offering summer private study scholarships. Details will be out within the week as well as a list of recommended private teachers.
Band- Jaeger/Dorn
We miss everyone in person but loved seeing you all during our small group meets! These groups are now done (except Mrs. Jaeger's Monday and Tuesday groups that had to be rescheduled from last week). If you need to meet with us this week further, just contact us directly.
FUN Stuff: We will be playing a Kahoot! on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. sharp with the entire 7th grade band. Please make plans to join us, we want as many people as possible to play! Instructions for how to join were sent to your email by Mrs. Jaeger last week. Top three winners get to have Mrs. Jaeger and Mr. Dorn come to your house and play a song of your choice in your driveway/parking lot! You will use the normal small group link to join the fun https://meet.google.com/jvg-rofo-sty.
There are no new assignments this week, just use the time to catch up on your assignments. Let us know if you have any questions or need help!

Orquesta
Me he divertido aprendiendo contigo.
Preguntas:
