English - Ripp
We started our second round of Choose Your Own Learning with everything due May 8th.  We will do one final round of this before we move on to our final speech of the year.

Deadlines:
The second round of choose your own learning is due May 8th
Questions to ask:
How did the first round of choose your own learning go?
What are you reading?
What have you learned in the second round of choose your own learning?

Gunst (English):
We are coming into the homestretch of our second Choose Your Own Adventure assignment that will be due on May 8th.  Each student should have at least one conference with me to discuss their project and any problems or questions they might be having.  Please check in with your student to make sure that conference has already happened or is scheduled.  Overall, I have been impressed by the work of the students in these strange and difficult times.

As always, I am always available to answer any questions or concerns.  Grades are currently updated in Infinite Campus if you want to see if our student is keeping up with the assignments and how well they did on the first Choose Your Own Adventure.

Spanish (Landsverk):
After this week, students should have completed all homework for the quarter (4.1-4.6). I will be accepting any late work as students are able to complete it. At this point, students will begin to prepare for our Unit 4 final (summative) for the end of the quarter. Any students who are feeling confused or behind should reach out to me so that we can come up with a plan of action.

Math - Gratzl
Deadlines:
Cylinder and Cone Homework due Monday, May 4th

Questions to ask:
-How does the volume of a cone relate to the volume of a cylinder?
-Are you watching the daily math video and completing the daily independent practice before attempting the homework assigned in Google Classroom at the end of the week?

German - Wochenske
Last week we started our mini unit on the body. To practice vocabulary and spelling students had a bit "longer' of an assignment - it was broken down over 3 class days and 10 week days. After practicing the vocabulary, we are now putting it all together to form longer descriptions.

May 7 - due date for monster/cyber me assessment.

Upcoming - students will start to work on creating their own stories and have a choice board with self-directed learning.  The stories will be due the week of May 18. If students wish, they may collaborate with another German student to generate ideas.

All tasks are posted in our Google Classroom und "virtual learning".

Physical Education:

For weekly logs it's a necessity that students understand what the formula is for finding their Target Heart Rate range so that they're able to monitor their fitness workouts.

Target Heart Rate Formula:

220 - age = _____ x.70 = _____ & x .85 = _____

Example - (Let's take Mr. Fleming who is 41)

220 - 41 = 179
179 x .70 = 125
179 x .85 = 152

Mr Fleming's THR range is 125-152

After working out for 20 minutes or more I take my pulse for 10 seconds and multiply it by 6. My hope is that my number is in my THR range. If not, I will have to either increase the intensity of my workout or the amount of time. The other way for counting my pulse could be for 15 seconds and multiply it by 4.

Geography (Stoller):
Student were able to explore currency and the value of money in various countries and within countries this week.  Ask them about Dollar Street!  They also reviewed the countries and capitals of South American in preparation for next week.  We will take some time to learn about how children in Bolivia get to school. This is part of a series called "On the Way to School" and explores the perils of just getting to school for some children.  We will also begin learning about Africa by exploring the physical and political maps of that continent.
* What did you learn from Dollar Street?  What element that you researched (ovens, armchairs, teeth, etc) surprised you the most?
*What was the journey to school like for the two sisters in Bolivia?
*What were some similarities and differences between the school in the mountains of Bolivia and OMS?
*What are 3 new countries that you had never heard of on the continent of Africa?

Preguntas:

Fechas de entrega::

Preguntas que hacer::
