Conferences will be held on November 12th and 14th from 4 PM to 8 PM at OMS. You do not sign up but instead, show up on your chosen night and then wait for the teacher to be available to see you for 5 minutes. If you need more time or if those nights do not work for you, please reach out to your learner’s teachers in order to make other arrangements. We would love to meet with you to discuss the first quarter and set goals for the next one.
We could use your help with our on-going fundraiser. We collect Boxtops for Education but it looks a little different this year. Please take a look at this overview that explains the two ways to help us earn money to be used for additional curricular items, scholarships and prizes. We are grateful for your help and support!

We have started our inquiry into how to do better research - students will have modules to complete every other day throughout the month of November. Hopefully this will help them with all future research projects.
Please send in important songs to your family to Mrs. Ripp if you would like to be a part of our playlist.
Questions to ask:

Gunst English 7:
On Monday, we had our first public speaking assignment. Overall, I was impressed by the students' work and presentation skills when considering it was the first time this year to give a presentation at the front of the class. This week we are also focusing on the four types of sentences (Simple, Compound, Complex, and Compound-Complex). Students will be taking notes and we will have a quiz next week. They also have a Vocab List that they will be quizzed on Tuesday. Finally, we continue to have our Read Aloud Unit.

Spanish (Landsverk):
Students are starting Unit 2! At this time 2.1 and 2.2 homework should be turned in on Google Classroom. As of 11/7, students should also have three cultural summatives submitted: School Summative, Hispanic Heritage, and Day of the Dead. If students have questions on how to complete the work, they should come see me.
Geography (Stoller):
We had the awesome experience of the traveling museum this week, showing us the work of the Millenium Villages Project in four countries of Africa. Students learned about their 2nd quarter current event; everyone has their own due date even though IC lists the last day of the quarter There is a hyper doc on Google Classroom to help students through the process. Next week, we will learn about latitude and longitude and there will be homework some evenings.
Ask your learner:
*What was the best thing about the MVP traveling museum? Tell me something specific you learned.
*When is your current event due? What is different about this quarter's assignment from last quarter?
*What is the equator? Prime meridian? The difference between latitude and longitude?
