Stoller (Geography)--
Students spent this week doing "Mock Urban Challenge" activities in preparation for the big event next week.  We learned how to read maps, ride the Madison Metro, make an itinerary (plan for the day), talked about being flexible with that plan, did a Mock Urban Challenge around OMS,  and reflected on how we could take what we learned this week to help our team next Thursday.

Questions:
* What were some of the sites around OMS for the Mock Urban Challenge?  What was the most fun challenge you completed?
* How did your Geography team for Mock Urban Challenge strategize to earn the most points?  How did that work out?
* What are some things you learned about how to ride the Madison Metro?  (etiquette, how to pay, using Google maps transit feature, etc)

Gunst--English

We continue to work on Personal Essays and Memoirs.  Recent assignments focused on your student recognizing the theme or less of the story as well as developing an exciting beginning or hook.  We continue to stress independent reading. Please ask your student what book they are reading and if they are enjoying it. Next week, students will begin drafting their own personal essay or memoir.  This will be a more demanding assignment and the culmination of the Memoir unit.
