7-O Newsletter April 29, 2016

It certainly was a more still week here in the shark tank as almost all of our students were engaged in the Forward Exam.  At this point, we do not know when results will be shared from DPI.  Students enjoyed games, black out poetry, and tree planting today as we started to go back to normal classes.  Students who did not finish the Forward exam will be pulled from English, math and study hall until they are done.

We are busy collecting prizes for tha auction.  Thank you to those of you who have donated already.  We appreciate any donations we receive, especially giftcards since this is the most requested item from the students.

Geography (Stoller):
This week the students spent most of their time preparing for the summative. I handed them a graphic organizer to help direct them in the writing process. They will be writing about the different forms of government. They are creating a government of their choosing, while explaining to me different forms of government. This will take us into next week. I am hoping to have it completed by Thursday. Students will submit this via google classroom. Friday we will begin the next unit discussing Communism, Socialism, and Capitalism. If you have any questions about anything, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!

English (Ripp):
With testing behind us we now start our final project of the year, the This I Believe project.  More information will be shared on Mrsripp.com .  We are busy making summer plans for reading and went book shopping today.
Questions to ask your child:
- What is their favorite book this year and why (This is their speech topic for Tuesday)
-  What are their summer reading plans?
-  What are their goals for writing?
- Will they make the 25 book challenge goal?

Math (Gratzl):
Questions to ask your child:
Do you need to complete quiz corrections?  If so, what are your plans for completing them.
