Stoller (Geography):
It is economics season in Geography right now.  Did your student talk with you about taxes?  What they are?  How they're collected? What they provide?  Next Tuesday, students will take a quiz on both taxes and the principle of Supply and Demand. Ask your student why diamonds cost more than pebbles.  From there, we will move into a discussion of OPEC and learning why gas prices rise and fall.

Westrich:
English: Challenge Text (Theme/Central Idea), Vocabulary: Ongoing
German: Review Unit 2 vocabulary for 5 minutes daily.

Integrated Literacy (Bures):
Students are preparing for their debates. Ask them about their topic and opening statements.

Math (Gratzl):
Questions to ask your child about math:
What is the shadow method?  What would be an example of the shadow method?
When is your next test?  What is the best way to study for your test?  (hint:  the review we went over in class on Friday)

Science (Spaeth):
Starting 5 levels of organization in living things.  Heading into Human Body Systems.  We will be starting muscles and bones.  Protists and levels of organization quiz Thursday.

Geography (Howe):
Students are finishing World Religion presentations today. Next week, we'll be looking at an overview of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Tech Tools (Shumaker):
Tech Tools students finished a "Comics" assignment last week.  They created a comic strip from 2 different websites and embedded them into their eportfolio.  Now they are working a tour from 3 different continents.  Students will pick a city or landmark, find an image that is "labeled for reuse" and 2 facts.  Another component of this project is practicing citations.  They need to know how to create a website citation versus a digital image citation.  I can't wait to go around the world on the tours that the 7O students create!

English (Ripp)
Ask your child about:
  • What their nonfiction picture book topic is?
  • What are their goals for December?
  • How did they do on their short story and will they be working on it further for Yahara?
  • What did they learn from our Skype market research calls with 2nd and 3rd graders today.
