Newsletter September 11, 2015

Urban Challenge is set for Thursday, October 8th all day.  We need your help!  If you are willing and able to spend a day, hopefully two, with us, we are looking for chaperones/facilitators.  We need several parents to go with a team of 7 or 8 students as they navigate downtown Madison in an ‘Amazing Race’ style adventure.  If possible, we’d like for you to join us on Friday, October 9th for an hour first thing in the morning to help your team process and de-brief the experience.  If you are available one or both days, please email Katie Gratzl at kmgratzl@oregonsd.net  There will be a parent meeting right before the field trip to lay out exactly what you need to do.  (Mostly, you just need to make sure the team is safe and back to the bus pick up location by the appointed time.)   We hope you’ll consider joining us!

Ask Your Child About

Geography (Stoller):
  • Students spent time today sharing your stories about 9/11.  Thank you for being willing to talk about that day with your kids.  These are the types of world changing events which we use throughout the year as a point for discussion and debate.
  • We are learning how to select, read and summarize a current event.  Each student has signed up to present once sometime this quarter.  Please ask your child when his/her current event summary is due.  Feel free to read over the summary and help your child ensure that it's complete.
  • All class materials as well as a listing of what we do each day can be found on the class website.  https://sites.google.com/a/oregonsd.net/ms-stoller-s-geography-class/
