Newsletter April 24, 2015

Our end of year auction is coming up! Students have been earning CARE cash all year long to spend during the auction. We are looking for donations to help supply the prizes for this culminating activity.  While we have sent letters to many local businesses we find that a personal contact sometimes seals the deal. Additionally, sometimes parents donate directly.  They have:
  • purchased a prize (gift card to favorite restaurant/store, books popular with teens, sporting goods or team apparel)
  • made a monetary donation
  • made an inquiry at their place of employment about making a donation.

We use monetary donations to buy gift-cards for students, and we also use the money collected through box tops and Milk Moo-La to help fund the auction.

If you have questions, please contact Ms. Stoller at lms3@oregonsd.net

This week, please ask your child about:

Geography (Stoller):
  • Students completed research about a specific country in Europe and compared it to another country.
  • Ask your child what (s)he found interesting and unique about his/her country.
  • We start WWII, Communism/Democracy in Europe and the Cold War next week.  Feel free to discuss this and share your knowledge!

English (Ripp):
  • Ask your child about their Elephant & Piggie plays for thsi Tuesday
  • How they felt about the Badger exam
  •  What they got for their first reader's notebook assessment
  • Whether or not they have any pencils left
  • The five goals for the quarter
Tech Tools:
Last week students in Tech. Tools started a “Bingo Web 2.0  Project”.  For the rest of the quarter students will be picking a topic, choosing a web tool/app that will help them create their project, and put it on a google site page.  They will also create either written directions or a screencast on how to use the tool.  The last step for each project is to fill out a rubric on google classroom.  Students will have until approximately June 1 to complete many different projects.  Due dates in Infinite Campus are flexible for this project, but the first project was due on 4/172015 and the second project is due on 4/23/2015.  Some projects will take longer than others!  Also, students can work on projects that are assigned in their other classes. Please ask your student to see their Tech Spot google site to see their progress!
