We are finishing up the year with a Debate Unit.  Currently, your student has selected a topic and created a specific motion to debate.  They are currently researching the topic for their debate - they have to prepare both sides as they don’t know what side they will be arguing for.  Final debates will be June 3 and 6.  If your student is going to be absent on June 6; it would help if you notified me.

Geography

We are working with the photographs from Peter Menzel when he did ‘Material World’.  It was a photo essay about statistically average families from 20 countries around the world.  Students are exploring aspects of life in different parts of the world.

  • What was the reason that Mr Menzel set out to do this project?

  • What were some of the countries he photographed?

  • What does ‘statistically average’ mean?
