English
(Ripp)

We welcomed Ms. Weber this week in blocks 1 and 2, they will send an email introduction soon.  We continue to “rest in poetry” discussing what is poetry and creating some of our own.  We have read and listened to poetry as well and I encourage scholars to find their own favorites.

  • What is poetry?

  • May I see your song lyric or book spine poetry?

  • What are you reading right now?

  • How did English go in 2nd quarter, what do you want to accomplish in 3rd quarter?

English
(Gunst)

We are working on our fictional story over the next few weeks.  Your students are learning about literary elements such as:  Point of View, Types of Conflicts, and other aspects of characterization.  They will use these elements as they begin to write a draft of their own story of fiction. Their final story will need to be between 2 and 3 pages long.

Finally, students still are expected to be reading 15 minutes outside of class each day.
