Newsletter May 11, 2018

Another week passed and the end of the year is looming very close.  We are thrilled with the enthusiasm and commitment shown by all of the students as we finish the year strong.

Please help your learner look for missing books.  many books are still checked out and need to be brought back.  We are thrilled that the OMS library will allow kids up to 10 books checked out over summer, more details to come!

We are starting to hear students discuss the use of Juul vaping pens.  If you are unfamiliar with what a Juul is, it is a nicotine-filled electronic cigarette that comes in candy flavors.  Kids are reporting that some 7th-grade students are using them on the bus, in the bathrooms, outside at lunch etc.  The pens are small  (they look like a flash drive), colorful and highly addictive.  We encourage you to discuss this with your learner, to learn more about them here is an article https://www.buzzfeed.com/carolinekee/juul-ecigarette-vape-health-effects?utm_term=.inqB94lnY#.oxZy9jYzZ

Lots of deadlines coming up these last few weeks as we finish the year so be aware that it may seem like there is more homework.  Students are being given a lot of work time in class.
