Newsletter January 21, 2018

The second semester officially ended Friday and we are now halfway through 7th grade.  With the second semester ending, we are getting ready to post standards based scores and letter grades.  To see what the OMS policy is behind grades, please see here https://wi02217563.schoolwires.net//cms/lib/WI0221...

Just a reminder that the CARE trip is this coming Friday.  We have many students staying behind due to missing work, the day is then a great way for us to meet with them to discuss goals and habits for the new quarter to help them get on track again.

It sure is winter, but that is not stopping our incredible band teacher, Allison Jaeger from doing the Polar Plunge to support OMS band students.  To show your support for OMS and her, you can donate to her plunge right here https://wisconsinwinterplunge.everydayhero.com/us/...

Spanish - Jensen
The students have been practicing new vocabulary to cover a variety of topics - clothing, weather, seasons, activities, etc.  They have a vocabulary quiz coming up (1/25 for black day classes and 1/29 for orange day classes)!  They can study on www.studystack.com/kate_jnsn or www.quizlet.com -- search OMS Jensen 7.3 on either site to get to the right vocab list.

Also, we've been getting our feet wet with something called "teacher of the day".  Ask your child to explain this to you and see if they remember any of the questions/answers in Spanish!

Geography (Stoller):
Students continue to explore various world religions.  Ask them:*Can you show me the newsela articles you have read about Judaism and Islam?  What did you learn?
*What are some things that Judaism, Christianity and Islam all have in common? (There are 4 things we discussed)
