Newsletter December 22, 2017

When we get back we only have three weeks left of the quarter!  This will also mark the end of the first semester.  Many students have missing work or work that needs to be re-done, it may, therefore, be wise to check Infinite Campus over break to see if your learner should be working on homework over break.

English (Bures/Ripp)
We had so much fun today - ask your child what we did in English today and have them deliver one of their dad jokes to you.

Lit studies:
Deadlines:  We are assessing their short story best drafts - no need for reatkes as students will work on revisions in class before semester end.
Questions:
Ask them how they did on their short story.
Homework over break is to read - so ask them what they are reading.

Info studies:
We are working on debates still, they will happen the week after we get back.
Questions:
Ask your learner about their debate topic as well as what they have learned about it so far.

Geography (Stoller):
Students wrapped up 2017 by working on Middle East maps.  They won't have any more class time after break so they should finish them at home if they have time.  They are due 1/5.  We will be learning about the Middle East when we return.  Topics include OPEC, the status of Israel and Religions of the World.  Lots to learn about.  We will also have a special presentation on India and one on Japan shortly after we get back to school.  Have a wonderful break!

Math 8 (Poch):
For Math 8 we finished all investigations from GGG. We will start rules of exponents when we return from break. Please check IC to make sure students have all of their homework in for GGG. These include GGG 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3. Have a great Break!

7th Grade Art:
Look for completed glazed ceramic projects on Artsonia!
Students should be taking a photo of something "zoomed in" for their next project.
Sketchbook assignments due January 12th

Enriched English:
Short story discussions begin Wednesday, January 3rd.  Summative writing due by the end of winter break (officially due Friday, 12/22).

Math 7:
Deadlines:
-Comparing and Scaling Quiz Corrections Due January 12th.
-Comparing and Scaling Test on Friday, January 5th.

Questions:
-How did you do on your Comparing and Scaling quiz?  Do you plan on doing corrections?
