7-O Newsletter October 13th, 2 017

What an incredible week it has been in the shark tank.  Yesterday, as we finally descended on downtown Madison for the Urban Challenge, was quite the adventure with many students reporting just how much fun they had.  We so appreciate all of the help and support we get for this field trip, thank you so very much!

There are many deadlines and projects going on right now.  Please make sure your learner is on top of what they need to hand in or re-do.  If in doubt, have them check with their teachers.

And if you would like to donate a box of Kleenex, we would really appreciate it.  Cold season seems to be on us and we have blasted through most of our supplies here at school.

English (Bures/Ripp)
Students can work on re-takes for the following projects:

Vocab 1 Quiz
Curation Project
Aha Moment in a Picture Book (Ripp only)

Coming up we dive into the Refugee crisis unfolding around the world, our e-portfolios, as well as start our first read aloud of the year.

We are finishing our first unit!  The students have taken a vocabulary quiz and will be doing their unit 1 project during the next couple classes.  Any time the students score less than proficient (2.5 or lower) on a summative assessment like a quiz or a project, I encourage them to complete the practice work and do a retake.  Retakes are due two weeks from the day their assessments were handed back, and they can be taken during a study hall, before/after school, during lunch, or during Connections time.

Vocabulary Quiz Retake deadlines:  Black Day classes (10/25); Orange Day classes (10/30)

Science (Spaeth):
Starting Cells.  No homework or assignments.  Test and quiz retakes due 10/19

Poch Math 8:
Students are finishing up Investigation 3 this week. They will be doing a few investigations from Unit 4 with Statistics. The Summative for TWMM will be October 24 and 25. Ask your students what an inverse variation is.
