Newsletter October 30th

The end of a quarter is a great time to talk with your student about what went well and what goals (s)he might have for the quarter ahead!  It's a good idea to have your student check IC at least weekly with you so that there are no surprises.  Don't forget that teachers are available during almost all study halls, before school, after school and during lunch to help students.  Homework Club is available M/T/Th as an after school study hall and is another great way for students to stay on top of work, retakes, getting extra help, etc.

Conferences at OMS will be held November 17th and 19th in the lunchroom and gym from 4 PM to 8 PM.  Each conference is allotted 5 minutes per teacher and there is no sign up, if you feel you need more time than that then reach out to the individual teacher to schedule a separate conference.

Geography (Stoller):  

Students took two quizzes just before the end of the quarter but are still eligible to do retakes until November 10.  We spoke quite a bit about what the steps are for a retake; ask your student what (s)he would have to do in order to retake any quiz in Geography!  Next week, we tackle Latitude and Longitude.  Your student has 7 vocabulary words that you can practice at home.  They will also be working to use the coordinate grid to find countries, cities and physical features.  They can show you how!

English( Ripp):

• ​Ask your child about their poetry performance, if they went already how did it go?  If they go on Monday, are they ready?
• Did they need to re-work their summative - these are due on Monday.
• Which path have they chosen for the word work?
• What is their favorite book this quarter
