Team Notes: The 2nd quarter ended today! As previously noted, we pushed the CARE bowling activity at Ten Pin Alley back to Tuesday, as Monday students do not have school and teachers will be having a professional development day. Tuesday morning will be spent working on eportfolios and having an assembly, which includes a staff-student basketball game! With the start of a new quarter, our 7O students will be switching back to FACE with Caitlin Duffy, and some students may have other schedule changes (especially art). Please remind your student to check their schedule for changes.
English (Totzke): We continued reading our Book Club books this week, and we had our first discussion. I gave feedback and a formative score for this discussion. We're continuing our daily practice finding prepositional phrases, and we also analyzed a character in our books. Next week we'll continue reading and have our second (formative) discussion. Geography (Vruwink for Stoller): This past week we finished our religion presentations of 5 major religions. We learned more in-depth information about Buddhism and Hinduism in preparation for our religion test on Friday, we read an article entitled "Birthplace of 3 Religions," and we did a comparative summary of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, learning their prophets and Holy Scriptures. We are looking forward to beginning a new semester and talking about the content of Africa!
Geography (Howe):
Math (Stauss): During math class this week, we learned how to identify linear and proportional relationships. We also created tables, graphs and equations to represent information within real-world problems. Next week we will have a quiz. It will be our first summative grade for 3rd quarter.
